Quite frankly, anybody is welcome to come to my house when the weather is clear. I'd love to have someone to observe with. Anyone who wants to PM me who's near Glendale Heights is more than welcome to, and we can hammer out some details.
I don't know if you've noticed, but I have some nice equipment that you can use, and I might even provide the beer and bad humor.

I'm not really in the neighborhood, but if I end up out that way, I'll let you know.

Is this thread "dead"? Should I post in Star Parties?
I outside of Athens GA and am willing to drive a couple of hours even to chat and observe with someone who knows what they are doing.
I think this idea is such a needed forum because some of us are tactile learners and I just need to meet folks and do.

It's not dead, but has been left stuck up here - in the Beginners Forum - for the very reason you mention at the end of you post.
We are not planning, however (last I heard) to start a seperate forum for the subject.

Hi, Just thought I'd let ya'll know. My wife and I are planning a camping/observing trip to Caprock Canyons State Park, Texas on October 24th and 25th. Anyone interested and not taking in the All Arizona Star Party are welcome to join us. This is not an organized star party. Everyone is responsible for their own "doin's". It is beautiful country and according to some long range weather forecasts, it should be clear. Anyway, PM me if your interested and we'll discuss meeting up.

This is a great idea! I'm currently looking for fellow observers to join me at a semi-dark sky (5.6 NELM, Milky Way obvious) that I have access to in northern Maryland near the PA line. Anyone in the Baltimore/central MD/southern PA area interested please contact me. I try to go monthly. I'm also up for joining anyone at other sites in this area.

Well personally, I am still trying to figure out how 'Gardening' and 'Pets' rate their own forums here, but this does not. I've been gone for a bit though, so I'll shut up about it and let others decide...
