The earlier similar posting was buried in another long thread, and I thought it deserved its own topic.
Yes, of course you have to switch to a picture of Saturn with edge-on rings for viewing next year.
Another benefit of the planet-in-the-scope technique is you can share Saturn in the daytime with other folks.

Thanks for sharing this fantastic method for cool planet images. I've created my own astrophoto using your guide. I think the result is fine, but may I ask, is the cockroach really neccessary to add?

well, I think the cockroach should be at LEAST a little bit smaller...otherwise you'd have to entitle your image The Cockroach Who Ate Mars!
