Just got home my new scope today.A Sky-Watcher Maksutov Skymax 127 1500mm (f/11.66).I did some day view comparing against my old 120 1000mm(f/8.3) achro refractor, and it looks very promising indeed. This investment would have me on a diet of noodles and potatoes for at least a month but who cares as long the skies are clear.I got this scope mainly for looking/imaging the moon.I really hope it works out. Well just waiting for the moon now.A few hours more.Any other easy targets to try when it get`s dark?I`m already planning on Jupiter. Anyway wish me luck.
Clear skies!

Good luck! My new Orion XT10i arrived today (with a large tear in the OTA box that looks just like the driver put a boot through it!) and I'm looking at first light tonight as well.

Maybe M57 &/or Albireo. Don't forget to let it cool down a good long while.

Pleiades will be up around midnight. You might not be able to fit the whole thing in the field, but it's still cool to look at. Also there's the Andromeda Galaxy in that area of sky. It's not quite as easy as the others, but if I can see it where I am in smaller equipment, you should do fine.

Thanks David. The ring nebula sure is a great view.I just recently found it.I just looked in that general area for it.And at the first look in the eyepiece, there it was, spot on!Now with tracking,i finally have a chance of imaging it.I can`t wait.
No imaging tonight though. But i`ll sure have a visual try at the ring.
Clear skies!

Forgot the "Double-Double" near M57. Might be interesting to experiment with eyepieces and getting a clean split of all 4.

Just split them all at 120x,best at 200x.Not sure how good seeing conditions are at the moment though.3 clearly bands on Jupiter, and the ring also logged.Mizar double splitted clean at 30x Albireo wonderful at 40x,if i`m looking in the right direction that is.I didn`t have time for any alignment tonight.I have to read the manual tomorrow looking good so far. This hobby sure is a lot of fun.Well out again to get my night vision back!
Clear skies.

Wow,all nights should be like this one.Straight out from the living room, and i could easily count 8 stars in the pleiades just like that, just over the horizon. The milky way so clearly over my head.Wish i had someone to share it all with over here tonight. Now i`m just waiting for the moon.
