I'd like comments on the relative advantages/disadvantages of these two scopes for use in city skies. The scope will likely be used on a Wheelie with an image intensifier like the II3 or BIPH (visual only).

Under typical suburban skies with average seeing conditions, there won't be a whit's difference in views. Get to a dark site under good conditions, the dob will be slightly better...more aperture and smaller central obstruction. Also, the Newt has a bit wider field of view.
Would your C11 be the CPC11? If so, it's among the most comfortable setups from which to view. Very little change in the attitude of the eyepiece.
Or would your C11 be on a GEM? Another advantage for the C11 in either setup is tracking. It's especially advantageous at high magnification.
My view is prejudiced because I'm an SC fan. If it's visual only, I'd pick the CPC1100 because of its terrific viewing position.....seated! Even on a GEM, it's still nice to view from. And if you do get the bug to do some imaging, you have a great starting point.
