I installed DSI-WCS drift alignment software on my Vista laptop and am getting a Microsoft.NET Framework error message that says the application is attempting to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. The operation required the SecurityException. The options are to continue or quit. If I hit continue it brings up the WSC menu but doesn't recognize my DSI that's hooked up to the computer.
The Meade DSI is working with PHD Guiding so I know that part is okay.
I don't have a clue what that means or how to correct it. I do have the Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 running on the computer.
Will WCS run on a Vista machine?
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
Yup it works on Vista 32 bit. I run my DSI with WCS and Vista quite often. What you might what to do is go into the Control Panel and then to Security Center. In the Security Center is the ability to turn off User Account Control. This is new with Vista and basically gives you a warning every time you try and either access, install, or have another program access something that doesn't have the official Microsoft seal of approval.
Turn this function off and see if that helps solve your problem.
Cheers!

Hi Adam,
Thanks! That eliminated the security issue, but WCS is still not recognizing my DSI for some reason. I don't see where I can connect to the camera. The user interface page just shows 'DSI-Cam: None'.
Do I want to run the program in XP compatibility mode?

When you try and start WCS without a DSI connected you will get a message saying there is no DSI detected and the program will close. So, if you are getting the program to stay open then you might already be good to go. Once you have the program open, simply press start. This will start the 'live view' mode. From there you center your star and then click on it to start the drift tracking.
If that doesn't work then try running in XP mode and see if that does the trick.

If you are using the original DSI, make sure you use the DLLs from the old library folder. See the posts about this on the WCS group, which is linked on WCSs main page.

Thanks guys! I think I got it working. I copied the .dll files from the Autostar suite and was able to get a DSI image.
