After getting a little frustrated with my drift alignment results I decided to limit my exposures and snap off a few shots anyways, you know, since I was already out there freezing my *bleep* off.
Another M31
M45
First widefield (ignore the tree on the lower left)
I should be getting my auto guiding hardware (USB->serial, cables, etc) in next week so hopefully I'll be able to improve on these.

Very nice shots. I love the widefield of the milkyway. You got a nice shot of M31. How long were your exposures?

Agreed..exposure data please. I don't really see a guiding issue here.

For M31 and M45 I used my XTi at iso1600 with a 70-200mm @ 200, f5.6 and a 1.4x TC. M31 was 2x5 mins and 1x8 mins. The 8 min shot had some star trailing.
For the widefield I used my 17-40 @ 21mm, f5.6, 3x4 mins
Here's a different processed widefield,
Steve

Great shots , what was the mount you piggybacked on?
That Milky Way looks like there is some LP at the bottom or is that sunset?

Its an EQ6 I picked up a few weeks ago. it's my second GEM but my first mount with drives and so far I'm really liking it. I haven't used any of the advanced stuff yet, PEC or auto guiding but I'll get there.
Good question on the LP or sunset ... I'm not sure to tell you the truth, it surprised me to see that. There are no visible light domes in that direction (SW) and the picture was taken 3.5 hours after sunset.
