hey Vars, i think it should work. my friend has a etx-80 and he uses a 494 with it. so you should be fine.

No, I don't think it will. The ETX-80 is the same, as far as the AutoStar is concerned as an ETX-60 or ETX-70, so the 494 works fine with either. The 90, 105, and 125's are different, though, and the AutoStar knows that-- my 494 would not work with my ETX105-- a message appeared on the screen that told me I needed the 497 (I don't remember the exact wording, but that is essentially what it said). I suspect that you'll get the same message.

Did you check the 'Telescope Model' setting in Setup? If it's in there it should work. If not and from what Tom said regarding the 494 'knowing' it was attached to a 'wrong' scope, you may be out of luck. Based on a quick search and anecdotal info...it looks like it should work, but it probably depends on the firmware in your 494, whether the ETX90 is a known scope.

Depends on the model of ETX90 also. The RA version and origional version are not able to be used with any controller as they only have an RA drive, no DEC motor or control circuitry included with the scope.
