There are TWO 10-inch Treckerscopes up for sale on AM. That sure doesn't happen very often! Both are included in my TRECKERSCOPE REGISTRY.

Darn you James! Caught me in a moment of weakness, (are there any others?). I finally scored a totally beat up 9te5 from Goodwill last week and now this! Guess I'll BUY IT NOW and not sweat the details...looks good on my computer screen Really, thanks!

Hey Keith, No problem. Yah, I would have scooped it but only if it was for $50. Shipping, exchange, customs, etc would have made that $100 scope come in at $250. Good Deal at $100.

Preston,
I do know, hit buy now when I saw it was 1000mm. I also just bought another 7te5 at Goodwill Indiana for $11 and change, and as soon as UPS finds the appropriate gunny bag to put it in, they'll send it west.

While browsing the advertisements for the San Francisco, Calif. Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a very complete vintage Optica b/c 4-inch pedestal-mounted Newtonian reflector telescope. The ad was posted on November 24, 2008, and the address is:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/for/933080387.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
These are fairly hard to come by. As a fan of Optica b/c (and Royal Astro), I can say that these are fantastic optical and mechanical performers. Every classic telescope collector should have one of these in their collection.
Comments about the SF Craigslist scope from members?

While browsing the advertisements for the Jacksonville, Florida Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a highly collectible, vintage Manon (Shrine) 60mm alt-azimuth refractor telescope. The scope is pictured in its wooden storage chest, but the similarity to Mayflower, ATCO, and other brands is obvious.
The ad was posted on November 12th, 2008, and the web address is:
http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/pho/916364067.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
Comments from members about the performance of these vintage Manon telescopes?

While browsing the advertisements for the Sacramento, Calif. Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a vintage (circa 1980s) 'blue' Coulter Optical Co. 13.1" F/4.5 Odyssey I Dobsonian. (I wonder what the extra items mentioned in the ad are?)
The ad was posted on November 22nd, 2008, and the website address is:
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/for/930568864.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
For those of us who do not want to transport such a large telescope, many amateur astronomers use the primary and secondary mirrors to construct their own homemade truss-tube Dobsonian telescopes.

There has been a REPEATED listing for some older astronomy books on the San Luis Obispo, Calif. Craigslist. The most current posting is on November 20th, 2008. (Does the seller have an unlimited stock of these or no luck from interested buyers?)
The web address for the book collection is:
http://slo.craigslist.org/bks/926713153.html
One book in particular, the paperback pictured in the lower left quadrant, is the volume that I wish to add to my astronomical literature collection. It is a "How To" book about Astronomy, published by Fawcett Publications. There is a woman holding a 6-inch RFT on the cover.
I have E-mailed the seller numerous times without response. If one of our members does happen to acquire the entire collection, would they consider selling me just that one book? If so I can be contacted offline.

While browsing the advertisments for the New York City Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a vintage Criterion Optical Co. RV-6 6-inch F/8.3 Dynascope reflector. (A photograph sure would help.) The ad was posted on November 20th, 2008, and the web site address is:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/pho/926953692.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
According to the ad, there are six separate eyepieces included with the purchase of the telescope. I wonder if they are all Crico brand (Criterion), or some other type of vintage ocular?

Another Criterion RV-6 6-inch F/8.3 Newtonian reflector telescope on the Cincinnati, Ohio Craigslist:
http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/for/904079322.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
According to the ad, the scope was made in 1975. This would be toward the end of the era for that classic telescope.
When did the last Criterion RV-6 come off the production line?

While browsing the advertisements for the New Haven, Connecticut Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a classic Criterion RV-6 6-inch F/8.3 Dynascope reflector telescope. The ad was posted on November 24th, 2008, and the web address is:
http://newhaven.craigslist.org/for/932557913.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
According to the ad, the seller replaced the original mirror with a 'new' one. Of course the original finely-figured mirror holds most of the value of the instrument. I wonder if they kept the original mirror, or tossed it?
Comments on replacing a Criterion mirror with a new one from another source? (If it was me I would sure keep the original primary unless it was damaged beyond repair.)

While browsing the advertisements for the Colorado Springs, Colorado Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a very hard to come by vintage Swift Model No. 831 77mm equatorial refractor telescope, circa 1960. The ad was posted on November 12th, 2008, and the web address is:
http://cosprings.craigslist.org/for/916405632.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
There has been much discussion on the Classic Telescopes Forum about these wonderful instruments from Swift Instruments Corp. They were sold only during the early 1960s; the optics supposedly come from Takahashi.
LEW CHILTON, a knowledgeable member of our group, has been compiling a database of serial numbers of models #838 (50mm F/14), #839 (60mm F/13.5), and #831 (77mm F/13.0). This is a wonderful opportunity for him to add another one to his list of serial numbers.
(The 77mm advertised on the Colorado Springs Craigslist is one of the rarest scopes ever imported from Japan during the 1960s. Many serious amateur astronomers can vouch for the absolute stunning optical performance of these finely-crafted Swift achromatic refractors.)
Comments from owners of the 77mm Swift?

An Aerolite model #859 refractor telescope:
http://nh.craigslist.org/pho/928345900.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
It seems to me that I used to see ads for these scopes in Sky & Telescope magazine. Is the mounting design similar to that of Carton Optical Company? If so, then they are extremely high caliber instruments.
From the photographs in the Craigslist Ad they seem to be precision made. Can a few of our members further elaborate on this brand of older telescope?

A vintage Tasco #5VTE 60mm variable power (15x-60x) terrestrial and astronomical telescope:
http://littlerock.craigslist.org/tag/893228394.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
These small scopes are in the same series as Tasco's venerable alt-azimuth #4VTE Asteroid (table-top tripod), #9TE-5 Starbrite, #12TE-5 Solarama, #6TE-5 (Cosmic I), and #66TE-5 (Cosmic II) refractors from the 1960s. (The #5VTE was one of my first telescopes as a teenager.)

While browsing the advertisements for the Charlotte, North Carolina Craigslist, I happened to notice an intriguing posting for what appears to be a telescope made from vintage parts. However, the seller does not provide a photograph nor does he (or she) indicate whether it is an equatorial reflector or Dobsonian. Interesting enough to post, since many of the listed oculars are highly collectible.
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/for/928279885.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
Especially hard to find is the 12x40mm University Optics, Inc. viewfinder. This is a Royal Astro product, the same 40mm guidescope (but in white) used on Sears' 76.2mm classic equatorial refractors. This viewfinder was heavily advertised in Sky & Telescope magnazine during the mid-1970s.
I suspect that the scope is also from that same era. Has anyone from that area personally inspected the scope. What is it?

An original Henry Draper Newspaper article demonstrating a photograph of the Moon taken through his telescope in the year 1868. Readers who like vintage telescope memorabilia will fall in love with this one:
http://blacksburg.craigslist.org/for/931547311.html (I am not the seller of the newspaper.)
Is this of historic importance to the astronomical community and to classic telescope collectors? I suspect a framed picture of the newspaper article hanging next to your favorite vintage telescope would make a powerful combination!

I debated long and hard as to whether to post this one for the group to see. I have been in the market for a vintage Jaegers, Inc. 6-inch F/10 achromatic refractor, considered one of the finest moderate focal length instruments in existence. They are virtually impossible to find!
While browsing the Chautauqua, New York Craigslist, I happened to see a remarkable instrument for sale. FOR EDMUND SCIENTIFIC COLLECTORS, THERE IS ONE OF THE MISSING 8-INCH EQUATORIAL MOUNTINGS WITH PIER AND LEGS!!! The web address for the huge Jaegers/Edmund combination is found at:
http://chautauqua.craigslist.org/for/910287172.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
After owning Jaegers 6-inch F/5 and F/15 objective lenses, I have found none better in that aperture class. Of course, the F/10 version is considered by professional astronomers as the best all-around performer. Too bad it is across the country from me!
