I know, I saw that the day it posted, but I kept from calling because I knew I would have to have it. Now John tells me it is the rarest made. I may have to call after all. Thanks for the pressure . Rich

I debated long and hard as to whether to post this one for the group to see. I have been in the market for a vintage Jaegers, Inc. 6-inch F/10 achromatic refractor, considered one of the finest moderate focal length instruments in existence. They are virtually impossible to find!
While browsing the Chautauqua, New York Craigslist, I happened to see a remarkable instrument for sale. FOR EDMUND SCIENTIFIC COLLECTORS, THERE IS ONE OF THE MISSING 8-INCH EQUATORIAL MOUNTINGS WITH PIER AND LEGS!!! The web address for the huge Jaegers/Edmund combination is found at:
http://chautauqua.craigslist.org/for/910287172.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
After owning Jaegers 6-inch F/5 and F/15 objective lenses, I have found none better in that aperture class. Of course, the F/10 version is considered by professional astronomers as the best all-around performer. Too bad it is across the country from me!
This one has been on A-M for months. If I HAD the money I would already have driven over to Tonawanda bought it. It would go nice with my 6" f/15 Jaegers.
Oh well, maybe next time. (Sigh)

I was looking at that one too. If I had the storage space and the cash, I would have been willing to take a nice road trip to Tonawanda from NYC.
Glad a CN member grabbed it.

A warning - a friend of mine had very serious problems
with the seller of that scope on Astromart - he paid
for a Unitron accessory and never received it.
The seller claimed he shipped it, but never supplied
any documentation or evidence of it being shipped.
Others received items which were either broken or
in much worse condition than advertised.
The seller had multiple zero-star ratings on Astromart,
apparently re-registered there, but now has more negative feedback.

I was eyeing that Edmund mount with pier for my 6 inch f/10, but the seller didn't appear to want to ship either component. My 6" f/10 is a fantastic all-around performer, but its a bit of beast to set up. There's a 6" f/8 Jaegers OTA up on A-mart right now, btw.

There is a Cave 12.5" Newt on AM for a insane price of $7500 with the small 1.5" shaft mount.
That guy must be in dream land asking that price.

When this thread grows another page or so, I am going to lock it down and start a new one. (to keep things loading quickly) - I'll leave a link pointing to the old thread at the beginning of the new one. (like I did last time)

The black handles are missing on the cables. Did you notice that one of the eyepiece lens was laying inside the eyepiece box (no big deal). Looked like there was rust in a few places. It also looked like the bolt on the right hand side of the OTA clamp was bent (in the close up). I am sure it would clean up nice and you could get a few things re-chromed. I noticed he mentioned absolutely nothing about the objective, no pictures of it, not even of the front of the scope, dew shield etc. Seems rather odd since he took so many of everything else. It was difficult to tell if there were any dents in the OTA. The BIN price seems a touch high considering all this.

Of course I did ask the seller all of these questions and a few more.
