Me again,
I photoshop(ed) a few of the images of the SPI to get a better idea of what it looked like. I don't know if I am allowed to post the images here.
If you are interesed in purchasing it, overall it seems to be a nice looking scope but you still need to get the answers I posted above from the seller.
Also, it would be wise to get a few better in foucus pictures of the focuser from both sides and with it pulled out. Something looks "different" about it than mine. My SPI is in storage and these are the best pictures I have of one at the moment.

Hello everyone, Yes our very own John C. got this particular refractor. I went with him to Tonawanda to pick it up. The OTA is all Jaegers. The equatorial mount is the big one from Edmund Scientific Co. Cast iron pier. Geez what weight that thing was. The OTA though seemed lighter than my ED 178 and was easy to carry. It had the classic Jaegers objective and cell riding perched up at the top. Jaegers tube and Jaegers rack and pinion focuser. John plans to use it as a fun scope to take to star parties. I cannot wait to look at stars with this thing. My Jaegers 6" f/5 was wonderful for visual use at very dark sites.

Re: SPI Scope on eBAY. While the candle lit shots are very romantic, they are not very revealing. Oh... THAT'S why candle light is so romantic! With my late last century iMac and an incredibly slow "out in the country" dial-up connection each photo takes slightly over 3 minutes to download. After randomly clicking the links only to receive owner's manual cover...owner's manual page 3... sales receipt...tripod leg tip...closed box...owner's manual page 7...I gave up. Makes me want to buy it just so I can see it faster. Has anyone asked if Johnny Depp is the seller?

Try here...but be warned, you'll have to buy it piece by piece! http://tinyurl.com/6ndxtx
I'm surprised the corrector plate is not being sold seperately...

Brian,
I've found sellers are willing to ship, if you handle the packaging and shipping arrangements. Agree ahead of sale that they drop, (place), the scope at the UPS Store of their choosing and call you with contact info. Over the phone you can request how you want it packaged and delivered. The packaging might cost you $35 or $40 but you can usually get that "local pickup only" scope without the expense of relocating and this little guy
becomes this little guy

She said she would but she isn't happy about the idea, from her e-mail i get the idea she may have a disability, i feel bad for even asking. If i win i may try to arrange a pickup from a packaging company as Keith described.

I was of the opinion that getting sheet film for them was nearly impossible, now.
That's the first I have ever seen of the larger version! WOW!
I used to have one of the smaller ones. I think it was called the Model 220, or something. I wish I still had it along with all of the extension tubes, filters, adapters, plate holders, film holders AND ROLLED FILM BACK!!! Yep! I wish I hadn't sold that stuff off. Oh well!
By the way, the shutter doesn't need the bulb to operate. It can be triggered with a regular shutter cable. Look at the actuator arm closely and you will see where one can be threaded into it.
