Hi John: I saw it about 15 minutes after it went in on Friday night and by Sat. afternoon, it was on its way home with me. I gave him a few extra bucks over the money he wanted, because it was in such great shape. It is a 1973 model and the optics look very nice. I went to the Vernonscope website, which lists the costs for the lenses, barlows, and the filters. I was surprised. The amazing thing is that a guy came by before me, looked, and passed on the deal. I don't have a clue as to how someone interested enough to come by and look, could pass up a complete set of Brandon lenses for this price. I'm certainly glad that they did. Enjoy the day. Rich

WOW! To think someone passed up those Vernonscope EP's. You're lucky everyone does'nt know what we know. Last month I picked up a Coulter Odyssey 10 w/Astro Systems 2-speed Crayford for pennies. The night before another guy looked at it and offered the seller $20 less than what the seller wanted. After I took it the seller called and told me the other guy came back for it and was very disappointed it was gone. I have a feeling that may have happened when the other guy went home and researched that set of Vernonscope EP's. Congradulations.

I just got very lucky with the Vernonscope eps. I wasn't expecting that when I walked in. It was a once in a lifetime chance encounter. I really just wanted the older C8 which is in really great shape. Let me ask you about the C90 you have. I have one as well and I would like to try it with the larger eyepieces. Do you need that LAR to use the 1.25 eyepieces? Thanks, Rich

Hey Rich, I was gonna pm ya but thought others may be interested too.
Yes, you'll need the LAR for the new 1.25 visual back you'll also need. That's the only way to get the 1.25 diagonal on there. That original LAR was a little tough to find. I placed a wanted ad for it. I was told the Meade ETX's LAR does not fit the Orange C-90. It really improved the visual performance of that little guy. Next it needs a SCT focuser, I hate that helical ring.
I noticed what you got for the Vernonscope set. I love to see somebody get a find like that. How were you able to keep your composure when you saw that beautiful wooden box set? The drive home must have been sweeeeeeeet.

I had honestly never ever seen a set like that. It had filters and everything. I didn't know what in the world it was worth until I went to the website and saw the prices. I know that they must be just great eyepieces, but I thought that if I looked through them, I wouldn't want to sell them. Thanks for the info on the LAR. I will not get one for the ETX. Rich.

Not sure, but I think it's a Towa or Royal. Here's the link:
60mm Towa or Royal?
Somebody should grab this quick. If it's not a Towa/Royal can someone venture a guess? (I'm not the seller.)

I spoke to Don Rothman about the scope and he said he doesn't think it is an Edmunds, but possibly a Jaegers. He said it is a PVC pipe, and the focuser has some issues. He did say that it looked to be a homemade thing, and it is about 6 feet long, but in fairly good shape. I will post pictures if he sends me some later tonight. Richard
