Clint:
That "other weird bar clamp" on the side is an Edmund camera bracket holder. I have one on sitting on a shelf right now. What is missing is the support rod and the actual bracket upon which the camera is placed.

I almost forgot, it was also used to hold a white metal screen for solar projection.

Clint,
That's not a non-stock focuser on that 6-inch Deluxe Cave Astrola. It's a Carle helical focuser. You can see it in Cave accessory catalogs.
Helical focusers were very much in vogue in the 1970s. I had a Telescopics helical focuser on my 4-1/4 inch RFT.

I agree. It certainly does look like a 6-inch F/8 'Model A' deluxe Cave Astrola and not the bigger 8-inch F/6 'Model B.'

Yup, it's a 6" F8 allright. Had plenty of them come thru the shop in the early 80's when EVERBODY just had to have an 8" SCT.
Spiffed up, it might be a real corker. One of the best mirrors I ever saw was from just such a scope.

A complete Edmund Astroscan outfit on the Santa Fe, New Mexico Craigslist:
http://santafe.craigslist.org/for/889353297.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
I see at least two RKE eyepieces plus an RKE Barlow lens in the photographs. Are there any more oculars?

I had a Parks 8" f6 on that same mount. That mount was usless for the 8" OTA, way under mounted. Maybe the 6" would do ok on it.

A possible scam, Evil-Bay these are not his pictures! Or the pictures of his scope! The pictures are of a different scope and are not of his scope, a scope may not even exist. Don't buy!

A small scope that gets used often is a better investment than a big scope that stays in the closet.
Unitrons, you spend more time looking at them than you do through them.

How do you know this, Brian? I've been looking for a Unitron - and have been getting skunked.

I really dont think this is a scam. Maybe the photo was hijacked. However if this photo is the actual telescope for sale its a good one. Looking at the eyepieces indicate that this is a very early production unit. Bill
