Looks like a 6" scope with an 8" tube.

San Antonio CL - Towa or Royal 60mm? new [Re: Don W]
      #2741618 - 11/08/08 06:18 PM

I posted a heads-up about this about a week ago I think, but there didn't seem to be any reaction. I'm totally guessing here but is it perhaps a Towa or Royal? It's got the little "inside the OTA" finder on top. Here's the link:

Towa or Royal 60mm?

(I'm not the seller of this scope.)

That is definitely a 1960's Edmund 6" f/8 reflector. The mount is quite solid, though, this one needs some cleaning and dressing up. As pointed out by Robert, the optics are from the same company that made them for Criterion. I have two of those scopes and they are excellent!

The EPs are, in order, a 1/2" Ramsden, 1" Kellner, 2x - 3x variable Barlow. The box is the original one in which all three were shipped.

Astro Optical 4mm Ortho new [Re: Telescopeman54]
      #2741925 - 11/08/08 09:42 PM Attachment (15 downloads)

There have been many posts about Astro Optical products. While surfing the internet tonight, I found a 4mm Ortho from a reputable dealer in Japan selling this eyepiece. It is 3380 yen and knowing how things move, this will not last long.

So exactly how many shillings are in a yen? I don't know how much that would be in American coins. Can you help? Thanks, Rich

Edmund Scientific Newtonian - Pittsburgh PA new [Re: Binary Star]
      #2749793 - 11/13/08 12:56 PM

I usually check the Craigslist in Pittsburgh because my folks live near there and it's within driving distance.

This Edmund Newtonian looks like a 6" to me but it's hard to tell.

I'd be over there right now for that price! It looks to be in very good condition. However, they made more than 100 each year. Since there is no clock drive, which is the more difficult item to find for these, I'd offer $250.00 as a starting price. If he bites, then you've got a bargain.

That's quite a shirt! I take it you came across that by accident while telescope surfing.. I find it amazing that there would be a shirt like that.. So easy a Caveman could wear it! Rich
