The little ETX was tracking well that night! I think I had the gamma too high. I'm still experimenting, trying to get the most from the short exposures I can do in ALT/AZ. Until (if) I can get polar mode working with this mount, which probably won't be until I get too exasperated with what I can accomplish this way. I'm still at the point where I don't want to waste any imaging oppurtunities and with everthing else, don't have enough time to fool with it and do imaging both!
