yet another m31
      #2722027 - 10/28/08 01:50 AM Attachment (39 downloads)

conditions were spectacular tonight. along with still learning the ins and outs of the chdk mod for my canon a560 i was able to use my new polar scope. it definitely made a difference. out of 90 subs i only had to toss 20 which is great for me. i also upped the iso to 800 instead of my usual 400. i decided to stick with m31 so i could have a level comparison. still sticking with jpegs though as i dont have the know how to work with raws and taking darks, flats etc. besides im just shooting afocal with a p&s so im not rue the extra effort would make that much of a difference.

im very pleased with the results. this is my best photo of m31, or any galaxy, by far.

heres a combination of tonights subs and 62x30sec iso400 from my last session on 10/21. i need to work on the color balance but i think its even better than tonights work alone.

Nice M31 shot, esepcially considering you used a point and shoot camera through an eyepiece.

That is realy cool that you are using a P&S for this. Well done!! M31 is probably one of the toughest galaxies to process for colour.... IMO. My monitor is showing more of a purple tone around the edges. Not sure if you can see that on yours. Also I think if you take flats it will help you out tremendously with the overall processing.
