On a very clear night in the French Alps, I was enjoying the naked eye view of the two galaxies M31 and M33. I don’t often have the opportunity to admire both without optical aid. While I was pondering about the millions of light-years the naked eye could see, I suddenly realised that a third deep-sky object was visible as well. A soft glow, larger than the full moon, was visible a little 10° NE of M33, between Triangulum and Andromeda. What object could that be, so easily visible? I aimed my binoculars at that spot and discovered the large and scattered open cluster NGC 752. How nice, three naked eye objects so close together.
If you can not see NGC 752 with the naked eye, use Gamma Andromedae as your starting point and turn your binoculars 5° SSW of it. With a brightness of mag 5.5 and an apparent diameter of 50’, NGC 752 is a noteworthy binocular object. The cluster is actually best appreciated in low power instruments. The cluster is very old: 1.4 to 2 billion years. It is not a very large cluster; it just appears large because it is only 1200 l-y’s away.

Rony,
Beautiful! And think this old cluster broke out of it's cocoon long ago with no visible traces left except these beautiful stars. Nicely done.

Very nice! I stumbled on NGC 752 myself the other evening when looking for something to sketch, but chickened out on this rich, dim star field before opting for Gamma Aries instead.
Both this sketch and your earlier one of M45 really capture the beauty of these objects. I can't look at your drawings without being taken back in memory to recent evenings under the stars.
Thanks for sharing!

Rony,
A beautiful rendering of a often overlooked OC, and one that I always enjoy observing in a 2" EP. Your sketch captures this object wonderfully.

Rony,
A beautiful and photographic-like observation of this impressive open cluster in Andromeda. The main stars appear as a "slithering snake." Thank you for sharing it with us all.
