NGC 1647 in Taurus.
A large but scattered cluster of faint stars can be found at about 4° NE of Aldebaran. With an apparent size of 45’, NGC 1647 is an interesting binocular object. My 15x70’s show a loose gathering of about 30 mag 9 or fainter stars. Near the centre of the cluster, a close pair of mag 9 stars forms the brightest member of this 100 million years old cluster. This pair of stars is also called AG 311. Their separation is 32”. The true size of the cluster is estimated at 33 l-y at a distance between 1800 and 2600 l-y. While the often neglected NGC 1647 can not compete with the splendid showpieces of Taurus; the Hyades and the Pleiades, it does offer a fine sight in any pair of binoculars.

Very nice rendition once more, Rony. Any plans yet for a book? (not joking!)

Rony,
Very nice sketch of this large open cluster. Your eye is drawn to the brighter stars and then after a short time the fainter tighter members come into view creating a most impressive sight. Beautiful Rony, you are masterful at these binocular sketches.

Rony,
Very nice rendering of this OC in Taurus. Taurus does contain many fine objects, and you captured this one quite well.

Rony,
An excellent observation of this interesting open cluster in Taurus. This is a nice open cluster among other fine targets in the region.
I think that you should title your book "Belgian Skies." I would certainly buy it!
