I wish I had my camera out last night in Edmonton. I was driving in the wrong direction and saw the road light up knowing what it was right away. This happened around 5:30 PM so many people saw it.

For a moment, the entire sky lit up. That's an impressive fireball and given the size, it's possible a meteorite may have resulted from it. Given that so many people saw it and it was captured on camera, it should be possible to calculate it's trajectory and estimate where a fall may have taken place. I wonder if anyone is out looking?

That video was impressive and a little scary from the way the sky was lit up.
I saw my first "fireball" a few months ago while driving and was very impressed compared to the small "shooting stars" that I'm use to seeing.

I can remember my first and only fireball .I can't remember the year, many, many years ago , but a friend and I was in a car on the way back from some hunting and the street lights had just come on,the sun was just setting when it was if a GIANT flash bulb had suddenly went off.The sudden brightness was unbelievable.
After getting our senses together we looked towards the west
and followed a bright fire ball with a long tail,it was beautiful. The whole thing lasted maybe 5 seconds but it seemed a lot longer.

I think it is the same Fireball, but they have been showing it on the 24 hour Cable News Stations Several Times Today. They say there may be specimens recovered from the fireball. If so I would love to obtain some after the classification process.

An MSNBC article here quotes a source from a university in Calgary as stating the meteorite was "between the size of a chair and a desk" and probably weighed between 1 and 10 tons.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27848645/
Considering how bright the fireball was, it's amazing to think that something as small as a chair or desk could create such a brilliant bolide. Imagine what the fireball of a large impactor like the Canyon Diablo meteorite must have looked like! I bet it lit up the sky around half of the hemisphere!

Seems like they've found meteorites associated with that fireball. http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2008/11/28/meteorite.html

I wonder if these be named "Buzzard Coulee" or "Lloydminster". My vote is for Buzzard Coulee. Anyone for Lloydminster?

I bet he knows. One landowner nearby already issued a veiled threat to meteorite prospectors about getting shot at because it's hunting season. Another man was brandishing a fragment the size of toaster at a local pub.
Here is another article with some good photos of the fragments :
