Nov08 CN Imaging/Sketching Contest Winner! new
      #2808944 - 12/16/08 06:16 PM

I am pleased to announce the winner of the November 2008 Cloudy Nights Imaging and Sketching Contest - neutronman!

Here is my M42 taken from Rancho Venado in the Texas Hill Country. I tried to go deep and pull out alot of the surrounding faint dust. I combined different exposures to protect the trap while pulling out the dim stuff.

Congratulations John - Neutronman!

I for one thought this was a fantastic and unique photographic accomplishment. As a hand painter and pastel sketcher, I would say that this photograph should be on a museum wall as a great abstract art! It has tremendous depth and dimension.

Absolutely spectacular!

regards,
-Mark

Thanks, Mike. You've got some BEAUTIFUL shots on your website. Really great stuff.

Mark, that is quite a compliment! Thank you so much! Funny you mention abstract art - I collect abstract surreal art by Richard Powers (best known for his 50's to 70's sci-fi book covers). Some of his abstracts really look like dimensional nebulae. Perhaps another reason I love astrophotography
