I have been very curious about Zhumell, so much so that I called them up to ask why they did not have user adjustable prisms like Oberwerk 20x80s, they replied that they wanted to maintain quality control by allowing user return for free adjustments! They were very friendly and gave me a positive feeling about them! I don't see that anybody is using Zhumells(I only read one review of them), and I'm really wondering why that is, as they advertise well, and give a super long guarantee. I posted this question on this forum, and got no replies!? It looks like Zhumell makes their own optical gear in Ohio, but I may be wrong on this, again no replies when I brought this up. Is Zhumell a "sleeper" or what?

I would like to read a review on these as well. I am sold on Oberwerk, which is also located in Ohio. Hmmm. No relation I'm sure.

I have never seen any advertizement for Zhumell. Even when I have been shopping for binoculars, I still never came across Zhumell. But then again, I am not constantly looking out for binoculars either. I have not heard much, if anything, about the quality of their hardware. IMHO, not being able to tweek your binocular prisms, by design, is a very poor design indeed. I don't think that a user should have to send in their binoculars for an adjustment. The user should have control over that.

I just wondered, how did you establish that these do not have user adjustable prisms. These look like standard chinese rebranded binocs.

I tried some 100mm and 80mm models of these about 3 months ago at the telescopes.com/binoculars.com store front (the front end of their shipping building in Duluth, MN).
I was underwhelmed. My target was (in daylight) a church steeple against a flat white cloudy sky.
Softness starting about 50% out, and alot of false color. Not easy to reach a focus spot either.
About a month later i tried a 100mm pair a vendor had at a hawk migration site. Bright sunny day. Same as above but false color really negative on sun lite leaves.

Moynihan, thank's for that Info. on two different Zhumell binoculars! By running "Zhumell" through my Google Search Engine, I did come up with a detailed comparative report on I belive, their 20x80s,which was quite complementary,(perhaps they sent him a super pair for the test?) it might even have been on this site before I joined, this was about six weeks ago!
Prof. Ed, when I telephoned Zhumell about two weeks ago, I asked them if their 20x80s had user adjustable prisms as did the Oberwerks, the answer was no. If you go to the Zhumell web site guys, it appears that Zhumell builds their own binoculars in Ohio. Maybe I'll have to pull out my magnifying glass and study their site very closely again, but that's what it seemed to me! I guess that I handle my present collection of binoculars like eggs, or else I've been very lucky, because over the years they have remained beautifully alligned and collimated, I couldn't tolerate any thing else! I would have to agree with Ed. in preferring a binocular that was user adjustable, as long as such a feature was available!

The ones i played with were marked China, i think. The lense cells look like those new low price Orion 4"er's.

The folks at Telescopes.com in Duluth said this was their new "house" brand. Interesting, Zhumell's address (according to their web site is in Duluth).
My bet is that the "bargain giants" of this company, Orion, and Celestron all have the same source.
