Don't spend hundreds more for larger binoculars with inferior viewing power.
I just received the GadgetUniverse catalog in the mail and they have this 20-125x27mm binocular in there showing a woman handholding them with one hand.

Joe,
Nothing new about these here in the UK !
I've actually tried some of them out , going so far as to once actually BUYING a 20 -120 x 70 "giant" version for the considerable sum of £250 UK.
Of course , I KNEW I could return them for a FULL refund with no conditions within 28 days if dissatisfied in any way at all , which is the only reason I bought them.
I just wanted to TRY them out !
It would take far too much of time to write a review of them here and now , but now the thought has crossed my mind , I might well write one , just for kicks , sometime in the future , and post it to the mini -reviews.
Just in case ANYONE might have the SLIGHTEST doubt , my conclusion and advice is :
DO NOT BUY 20 -120 ZOOM BINOCULARS !
They are bad for your eyes , bad for your wallet , bad for your reputation and a VERY BAD advertisement for binoculars on the whole.
It makes me CRINGE when I see the ONLY national newspaper advertisements for binoculars of which I'm aware spread over almost half a page , boasting "the WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL BINOUCULARS " followed by 25-150 x 50 or some such totally ridiculous specification.
Underneath, in print so small that the reader could probably use a 25x magnifying glass to see it clearly, is typed the warning - at HIGHER magnifications , a tripod is recommended.
Veering off on that tangent , what I WOULD like to see is a concerted effort by LEADING manufacturers to REALLY try to get the message across about how different from such dross REALLY GOOD binoculars actually are , through the various media available to them.
Regards , Kenny

Kenny,
At least 120x from 70mm optics is within reason but 125x from 27mm optics is not. I feel sorry for anyone purchasing a 20-125x compact binocular thinking they can be used handheld as shown in the ad.

"Somebody hold me back!!!!!!!!" - lol Bill
Seriously, the best advice to anyone out there is to immediately discard anything that boasts high magnification in a shopping catalogue that isn't an astronomy catalogue, and even then be wary...
