Guys, Even in joking; let's not carry this comparison any further, as it is disrespectful.

Let's get back to the OP's question of security of a POD.

Thanks!

Thanks Carol, and I apologize Luigi! My comment was of course intended to be humorous as I am sure your retort was!
I would like to have a more substantial and roomy observatory but my financial situation precludes that.
Even the POD was beyond my financial means until a fellow Florida enthusiast needed to get rid of his to make way for a more substantial and roomy observatory!
I was able to save $2,000 off of the cost of a new one shipped from the factory.
I sold everything that was not nailed down to raise the money and now I will have a place to escape from my Wife and son. Oh yes, and have a place to put my scopes on the off chance the sky will appear when the moon is not full!
My usual routine was to go out to see how the sky looked.
If it was relatively clear I would run in and drag the scope out only to look up and see nothing but clouds. I would set up anyway to play the game of what comes first, a clear sky or rain.
Now I can sit in there peacefully scanning the posts on CN and with a flick of the wrist open the clam, take a look, and get it closed before everything gets soaked.
What a fun pastime!

George,

My circumstances were a lot like yours when the chance to buy a used POD on astromart came along. My time spent viewing has increased significantly since installing the POD. I’m sure you will enjoy yours. The ability to take quick peeks and to observe right until your ready to call it quits is a joy. No more cool down time, no more dragging equipment in and out … life is good! I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Best of luck.

Mike

Ya should have put up a sign that read, "Send more golfballs, the ones yesterday were delicious."

A simple lock with a menacing dog should do the trick.

Yup a dog is the best security for your POD. Doesn't even have to be big or mean. Mines mouthy. Starts barking before you can even get in the yard. Thank God I have no neighbors. But sneeking around my place is impossible, it even barks at me.
