It was taken with a Olympus Evolt 300 camera at 1/200 of a sec through a polarizing filter. This may very well be the ideal scope for DSLR users. It's fast focal ratio and wide field of view is ideal for many astro targets. I did take some shots of some deep sky objects from my light polluted neighborhood and found that the star field was pin point to the edges of my 35mm camera. The well baffled tube also cuts down on internal reflections that could be a problem for DSLR users. My mount was not cooperating or I would send the shots. I'll try again this coming new moon weekend.

Uh, you won't be able to SEE the moon on new moon weekend. How are you going to take a picture of it?

I was in such a hurry, I goofed. The quotes and images are from a tester of ours with the scope in the field. With his permission we used both. I don't want to take any credit for something I haven't done.

It wasn't me, but John. You will have to contact him about the images.

John O'Neill has a website link (members pages) on the Chiefland.org website. I thought I saw some AstroTech RC 8" pics on his page where it says "latest images click here".

Hello from Pittsburgh PA. I did a test run and quick review of the Astro-Tech AT6RC and have posted it, along with sample images, at my website below.

Thanks for the sample images Adrian! It does look like a nice little scope. Vignetting isn't as bad with the 6" and a DSLR as I thought it would be and the field looks pretty flat.
Good to see another Pittsburgher here too!

Hey, my pleasure, and also nice to see someone here that lives in the worst overcast city for telescopes in the U.S. (O.K., actually we are 3rd worst, but when you are at the bottom that far, does it really matter?). Also notice that you are a fellow SN10 owner (hence the other part of my LXD-75 mount in review). I stripped the OTA off and use it with a Losmandy G-11 due to the weight. Will hope to get a clearer night soon, since I am certain this scope can do great things based upon what it did with the extremely sub-par skies I had with the test shots. Vignetting creeps up at the far edges, but most likely would not even be visible in a 5 X 7 print. If interested, check back at the review site later, since I do have addition comments on other aspects that I discovered while setting up.

Attached is a 50% haze overcast and substantial light pollution shot of Orion nebula, post processed via camera noise reduction, unsharp mask, and histogram adjustment. Stack of 14 twenty-second exposures on Canon XTi, reduced to 800 X 600 on AT6RC. Uncropped and shows actual field of view on DSLR.
