Wooden tripod legs in Canada?
      #2890026 - 01/26/09 10:11 PM

I've seen some posts about replacing the legs on the Vixen Porta mount with wooden ones (GTO Mount) to reduce vibration. It's a bit of a pain to get these shipped to Canada. Does anyone know of something similar available in the great white north, or better yet in the Toronto area?
Thanks.
Wad.

I'm not sure if they still make them, but Naturewatch in PEI used to make very nice oak tripods. Their website is a biy dated, so you might want to give them a call.

Yup I bet ya Lloyd would fix you up right quick. He makes beautiful sturdy tripod legs.

They do look nice. Here's a link to what they used to offer:

I didn't see it on their site in a recent search, though.
(I just ordered one of the Oberwerk blems - from the US of A, but at $75. (half price) it seems worth the hassle.)

I need to start a similar thread for wooden legs in the UK!

Great lead guys! Lloyd appears to have the same tripod (GTO I believe) at an excellent price, delivered in Canada. He's sending one my way. Yes, he does also have more expensive oak, etc.
Gotta love the way people can connect here.
