Where to buy in EU?
      #2898056 - 01/30/09 04:14 PM

I finally got the 80ed OTA I was waiting for, couldn't resist and mounted it on my manfrotto tripod-head mount, the head is sturdy but not enough to safely hold the scope and, most of all, impossible to lock on a precise spot.

Now I need an alt-az mount (a Gyro - AYO - WO), prices in Italy are really high compared to the US ones, I was wondering if there is somebody here on the forums who can advice on a good EU source for a good tripod-mount set.

thanks all

Giovanni,

If you are looking for the AYO try here www.altairastro.com
If you are looking for the new WO try here www.firstlightoptics.com

I use my AYO on a Manfrotto 028. Although I also use a Manfrotto 503 HDV head from time to time with my small refractor and binoculars.

Hope this helps a little.

I bought my Losmandy from Perseu .
Even it is at the opposite corner of Europe. There seemed to be the Giro and TV alt/az mounts.
I had little problems with my hand controller but mr. Tripa lent his own, while mine was repaired, excellent service.

Hey Giovanni

Some new development in the AYO camp:
http://www.aokswiss.ch/d/mont/ayo/ayotraveler/uebersicht_ayotraveler.html

Yesterday I picked up my new pier for my large mount at the AOK workshop and had the chance to play with this gem. Even with a TV102 on top it works smooth without any backlash, very surprising looking at the low weight.
One great feature is the possibility to add encoders for a reasonable price. Looking at the price and the performance certainly an option to consider. This is the perfect mount for a small refractor when traveling with a weight limitation.

regards
Chris

Giovanni

With the recent devaluation of the pound, some nice bargains can be found in the UK. Not as good as in the USA but better than the raping we who live in Europe normally get.
