This is a rough sketch done on white copy paper with the observation. Hope it helps. The Crab Nebula is not an easy target to observe. Images of this famous planetary nebula are misleading in making an observer believe it to be easier to detect and study. Dark and steady skies help greatly in picking it up. I made an observation of the nebula on February 14, 2007 using my 8-inch Klevtsov-Cassegrain (73x). I hope that this helps you. It does appear ghostly most of time. The best of luck in your future observations of it and other deep sky objects.
