I made an observation of Saturn on February 8, 2009 (07:00 U.T.) using my 9-inch (23-cm) F/13.5 Maksutov-Cassegrain (388x) under average to steady seeing conditions (5-7/10). I was able to make out several bands across the globe. Titan, Mimas, and Tethys were visible.
Date (U.T.): February 8, 2009 Time (U.T.): 07:00 L1 290.4, L2 026.5, L3 269.4 De -1.6, Ds -2.9 Instrument: 9-inch (23-cm) F/13.5 Maksutov-Cassegrain Magnification: 388x Seeing (1-10): 5-7, Antoniadi (I-V): II-III Transparency (1-6): 4
Details: South Polar Region (SPR): Appeared dark to dusky (3-4/10) without any detail visible within. South Temperate Zone (STZ): Appeared bright (7/10) and thin. South Temperate Band(s): Multiple dusky (4/10) and thin bands were noted over this region. South Tropical Zone (STrZ): Appeared shaded (6/10) and thin. South Equatorial Belt (SEB): Appeared dark to dusky (3-4/10) and broad. Equatorial Zone (EZ): Appeared bright (7/10) and broad. North Tropical Zone (NTrZ): Appeared bright (7/10) and broad. North Equatorial Belt (NEB): Appeared dark to dusky (3-4/10) and possibly divided by a thin shaded (6-10) zone visible during moments of steady seeing. North Temperate Zone (NTZ): Appeared shaded (6/10) and broad. North Polar Region (NPR): Appeared dark to dusky (3-4/10), but no detail visible within.
Satellites: Titan (8.4m) was visible above the preceding ring ansa with Mimas (13.0m) visible during moments of steady seeing. Tethys (10.3m) was visible following the planet.
The best of luck in your own observations of Saturn.

Carlos,
I love this sketch. You have captured detail here I have only glimpsed in an hour of close examination of Saturn's globe a few days back. Including the Saturnian moons and detailed write-up make this a wonderful recording of this observation. Great work to share with all of us.

Thank you for the compliments on my Saturn observation. I was impressed by the amount of detail over the ringed planet. The satellites nearby were an added treat. The best of luck in your own observations of Saturn.

Beautiful rendering. I wish I could take the magnification on my 10.1" Newtonian that high.
You have me excited about seeing Saturn again now as it approaches earlier evening skies.
Thanks for sharing this image and your excellent text info.
