KOMZ/ZOMZ now make a 12x45 - see: KOMZ. Can't see a 12x40 on their site. Incidentally, the BPO series (bizarrely found both at a local flea market) are superb - Holger Merlitz has a couple of reviews.
Good luck - you could also try that infamous auction house.

I have the 6X30 EWA model 12.5 deg FOV and Camo paint job. It was purchased on clearance about 4 years ago. I am not impressed with the coating. The internal reflection is slightly annoying in the day time. Contrast is reduced in night time use. Resolution and brightness are no better than average. I like my vintage Jananese Swift 7X35 (~40 year old) much better.
I hope the new 12X45s have better coating and optics. Some US importers are selling other models with camp paint job for over $150 USD. I would not pay over $100 if the optics have not improved compared to my 6X30 model.

Sportsman's Guide advertised the 12x45s in one of their catalogs right before the peak of Comet Hale-Bopp. I ordered one. It was a decent binocular for the price ($39.99 if I recall correctly). I showed it to the local astro club and we got up an order for 20 or so. SG gave a discount for a quantity order.
When the bins came in I carefully checked each one. 3 or 4 were sent back due to collimation issues. I still have 2 of them, one I use occasionally and one like brand new in the box. Other than being soft at the edges they are not too bad. Lightweight and sharp in the center.
BTW, the ad linked to KOMZ above does not show the price. What ie the current asking price for the 12x45?

mOOnless,
If you like the 12x40 configuration, consider buying a Nikon 12x40 WF. It was made around the same time as the "E" series. I see them surface occasionally on eBay.
I had one, and it was lightweight, very sharp, with good edges. It had the purplish blue Nikon coatings that were better than most at the time. My Nikon 8x35 WF has the same coatings, and the contrast is very good.
I replaced the Nikon 12x40s with the 12x50 SE, which is "superior", but considering you could buy seven or eight 12x40 WFs for one 12x50 SE, the 12x40 is a very good value.

I own a pair that was purchased about 20 years ago and I would be interested to get a new one of similar quality. The one that I own looks a little different from the models above.

The following binoculars seem similar in appearance, but have individual focusing eyepieces instead:
ZOMZ B-12-1
They are available from Hupra for 125,00 EUR
Could they be the same?
