CG-4 clutch goes loose, then comes back
      #2943639 - 02/22/09 08:01 PM

I was rotating the Dec axis on my CG-4 mount with the clutch disengaged when suddenly I noticed it wouldn't move past a certain point. I thought the clutch might have become engaged by accident, but moving the handle this way and that revealed no resistance whatsoever. The clutch was apparently spinning freely without catching on anything. I eventually managed to engage the clutch after moving the Dec axis several times in either direction.

This worries me, especially since the Dec clutch on this mount has never engaged quite as easily as the RA clutch, requiring greater travel of the clutch handle after you start getting some resistance.

Is this a sign that my mount is about to fail? Could the problem be related to my earlier problems with the Dec axis?
