The most common grammatical mistakes I see on CN, other than typos, are:
its/it's confusion
there/their confusion
too/to confusion
me/myself/I confusion
Don, a big mistake folks make on CN is typing "loose" when they mean "lose". I must have seen that at least 25 times.
(I used to proofread for a newspaper.)
Two more:
Advice/advise confusion(first one is the noun, and you give it)
Your/you're confusion(first one is a possessive, and it belongs to someone)
A friend is a school teacher (12th grade) who grades papers frequently (English native language speakers, ostensibly) and sees all the errors we've mentioned plus a lot of others.
He said he might write a book with some of the funnier errors, but he's afraid no one would understand the humor. I told him to write it anyway--people who read for entertainment would get a good laugh (like George Carlin's new book--I almost hurt myself laughing so hard!).
Happy Holidays, everyone.

Thank you, Don!
I was just kidding with the haikus (taking all seasons in), but the last one is more how I feel.
I like your haiku, too, since my dictionary told me "soares *not equal* sour" !
Happy holidays!

I have seen this typo, too.
But as I have been showed it is not polite to write it, I didn't say anything.
Now, is Gary polite?
Have a very nice Mary Christmas!

Thanks, Gary.
I couldn't let it stay as it was--I edited the post (it was as if someone were scraping his fingernails on a blackboard).
Seasons greetings to all.

Amalia, different cultures are hard to understand! You asked a good question.
Obviously, Don knew the correct word was "write", not "right". So normally I would have just ignored it because Don did not need any help from me!
In America, we like to cheer on the "underdog" (a person who needs a little help) more than cheer on the big winners (who don't need as much help.) Since Don was commenting publicly about other folk's errors, I decided to poke him a little and throw a bone to the "underdogs" Let it be known that I have commented on posting errors, too, so I'm "fair game" for correction when I make a mistake!
Actually, I don't mind being corrected. You have said the same thing. That clears up any issues of embarassment or sensitivity. Thus, I hope you appreciate it when I point out it's "Merry Christmas", not "Mary Christmas." Actually, I think you were making a joke!
(Did anyone notice that I intentionally made one spelling mistake in this post? Can you find it? )

Have a nice Hello!
It took me some time, but I found it, Gary!
"embarassment" should be embarrassment.
Have a nice Joseph Christmas! (better? )
And also have a very nice Happy New Ear!

You found it, Amalia!
I realized after reading my previous post that identifying when a mistake is "obvious" is not easy for many people that don't speak english as a first language. So my explanation might do more to confuse than help. Sorry about that!
Let me try this again: *not* correcting mistakes is a good general rule in casual settings like CN. If you feel comfortable with a person who makes the same mistake more than once, maybe a private message would be appreciated.

I am a notoriously bad speller, but it has never kept me from expressing complex details. The rule of thumb here on CN and most everywhere else is understanding comes first. If you can't make yourself understood, then others won't comment. Amalia expresses herself remarkably well in two of the languages I have some knowledge of.
Yes the Austrians also use the s-set. I just use ss as I don't have the dialogue key for German.

Wow Amilia, that observing site looks awesome. Great report too. Enjoy the scope! What is the magnitude you can see w/ naked eye? The beauty of those surroundings must make observing till sunrise quite motivating.

Hi Rinaldo!
I really do enjoy my scope!
The magnitude to be seen with naked eye must be more than 6.
Always again I had to watch down - this night was truly outstanding!
Thank you for writing me!
Happy New Year!
