here's a quick sketch of Saturn from last night. the seeing was good, but at an altitude of 20° i could not go further than 250x on my 8" dob using a 4mm UO Ortho.
because i didn't plan on sketching, it was made indoor from memory. the thing that stood out to me most was the shadow of the ring on the globe. really a neat sight.

saturn had a very dark, almost brownish, yellow color. perhaps a combination of the low height and the closed rings which otherwise overshine the globe?
something i notice now is that in the sketch the rings are white in color vs. the yellow of the globe, at the eyepiece though, everything looked equally yellow to me... so a little error in the drawing!

Kris,

This a a very impressive sketch of Saturn that you can add to your great collection of planet sketches.

Kris,

An excellent observation of Saturn showing the major bands over the globe North Equatorial Belt(NEB), South Equatorial Belt (SEB), South Polar Region (SPR), and the thin rings. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
