I was testing 2 days ago one of the dobson I had just finished, a 16 inches, f/d 4. I was pointing the moon, just at dawn. I discovered this wonderful network of rimae, close to the great Rhiginus rima.

Pierre,
An outstanding and accurate observation of this complex region of the Moon. You have rendered the delicate nature of the rilles very nicely. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Stunningly realistic artwork! It is photo-realistic Whenever I see that another has taken the pains and efforts to render such beautifully and accurately sketched art, I am humbled beyond words.
Can you indicate the format size and mediums used? Have you considered entering into the monthly sketch contest?
Thanks for sharing this with us all,
Mark

Pierre
I am guessing that you used a 19" X 25" size sheet of Canson paper?
I just looked at your telescope site. Your Dobsonian telescopes are equally masterpieces of artwork!
I have spent much time with John Dobson in recent years, but I have never built a telescope. The local famed mirror maker in Washington state, Carl Zambuto built a 15" Newtonian miror and scope for John Dobson last year as a gift. I had the pleasure of observing Saturn and the moon through it with Dobson last summer.
I look forward to seeng your next sketch work,
Mark

WOW!
That's a beautiful rendition Pierre. I really enjoy the way you've made the ridges look so much more elevated than the basin, and the trenches look so much deeper.
(I was going to try and compliment you in French, but it's been >15 years since I last spoke it, excusez-moi s'il vous plait)

The size of the real sketch is almost the same as the picture here. A lot of small craterlets are missing, but I did not have the time to note them on my first drawing on the spot. I just concentrated on the detailled network of the rimae and subrimae.
