I saw that too. If I hadn't just bought my Schaefer mount I would be all over that. I'm wondering what the latitude restriction is all about. It looks like a standard GEM, not a fork mount on a wedge.

The MI's cradle only allows for +/- 5° adjustment. New cradles can be ordered for different latitudes from MI. I think they are ~$200.

Boy, that is tempting. What a beautiful mount. But I'm looking forward to my first GOTO and just got my e-mail invite from Daleen to place an order for a Mach 1. Good thing - I'd be all over this one too....

Your definition of cheap is a little different than mine.

Premium was the key word.

I saw that too. It sure is a beauty. Add another $1600 for the Gemini, and you got that beauty for $4200!!!

I owned that same package years ago. The rock of Gibralter!
Great mount.

I'm pretty sure you cannot add the goto to this mount.

What is the "Gemini" ? I have a pillowblock style Byers Series II, with 11.xx" gear, in parts , which lacks the lattitude -dependent side plates, for completion. It has drive motors, but no GoTo. I acquired it from E. Byers in trade. I have been considering if it would make a good push-to, or?? It is quite heavy-duty, more than I can use, or care to transport. Is Gemini a go-to conversion/addition?

How about AFFORDABLE instead of CHEAP? The latter is such a demeaning term.

What are you looking for in a mount? Is it GOTO, or GEM or portability or all of the above? What OTA do you wish to use? Is this permanent or something that needs to move around? These will help to get more precise recommendations.

By the way, if I had the funds available for that MI-250 I'd be all over it. I am certain that I could modify it into a GOTO with a little effort.

It could be done, but most folks consider a changeover from a tangent arm DEC drive to a full motion worm drive to require more than a little effort (and expense) - and only after that can motors and a controller be added. It'd be cheaper and easier to just buy the later model instead.

It would, of course, be a very good value if purchased for use as it is.

It depends on the context it is being used. If I were talking quality, that would be a different story. Considering the included accessories, I'd say cheap is a good term in this context. Do I dare say it's a "steal"?
