Thanks George, I forgot I bought one to try on my 102ED, I used the MCHP straight though but I'll have to try the prism diagonal, if it ever warms up and is clear at the same time

I figured it had to be a mistake! Doesn't hurt to check it out however. Skyshed on their website quoted $800 shipping to me from the factory.
They need to have some stocking dealers strategically placed around the country. Seems like if they shipped 10 pods in a semi the shipping would be much less per unit.
I really lucked out getting the XL3 with the pier for $1500!
Cost me $40 to rent a trailer to pick it up so over all I saved about $2000.
From Maine maybe you could rent a trailer and pick it up yourself.

Last night we had a cold front move through the area and it brought the only hard rain we have had in some time.
This morning when I went out to the POD and opened the door I got a huge surprise!
I know what you are thinking but no leaks, the pod was dry inside but that made it very comfortable for the thousands of ants that had moved in! They turned one of the dome roller pockets into a nursery for their eggs while the ant kids played ferris wheel with the roller.
Luckily I had bought a new gallon of ant spray at Sam's Club last weekend. I have to bring the wet/dry Vac out tomorrow morning to vacuum them up. I will probably take a picture or two of the crime scene before destroying the evidence.
Don't want CSI Miami snooping around.

Congrats on your "new to you POD" there George.
And a pier thrown in?
Bonus!

Shipping 10 PODs at one time, (a full trailer) to one city, drastically brings down the shipping costs, but getting 10 orders together at (in Canada or the US) isn't an easy task.

I agree Garry, but I am not thinking 10 orders, I am thinking of a Dealer ordering 10 PODS.
That is not an unreasonable investment amount for an area with good skies.
A dealer could set up a POD village and rent them out nightly. Users could then purchase one if it fit their purpose. They are easy to move and set up.
It might be interesting to travel to star parties with the 10 PODs and set them up for rental during the party.
They could then be purchased by the renter and transported to their nearby property very cheaply.
Just musing!

George, so where you in 'So.Florida' where hurricanes bypass you? That is my biggest attraction to the POD, I can dismantle it if the big one is threatening to come and store it until the storm is passed. Wilma got me too in Palm Beach county, as well as Frances and Jeanne (and even Katrina).

And very good musing it is.
There was a piece of land just south of our city that used to be a trailer park.
It was bought by investors to turn into a golf course, but something happened, and it's just being used for trailer storage at the moment.
When the lottery was high, I envisioned buying that property and allowing people to set up their PODs in a campsite fashion, with paved roads right to the door, water and power already at each site and room to tent or trailer along side your POD. There is 40 sites and more could be made in the grass, allbeit without water and power.....

To live is to dream.........

Sounds like a great idea Garry. PODs would be the least expensive solution to such a plan.
I also understand that Calgary is a beautiful place with lots to do there.
A close friend was bidding on airplane seats a few years ago to take a vacation with his Wife.
The only seats he won were to Calgary!
He had never thought of Calgary but since he got the tickets very cheap they went there for a vacation.
When he returned he raved about the good time they had and how beautiful the area was.
Since then I have had that in the back of my mind as a possible place to visit someday.
As you said, dreaming is what makes life bearable!

I live in Seattle and with our 30000 inches of rain a year, how waterproof/resistant is the pod? I really want to leave my scope in it year round and would love to not have to worry about water issues...thanks.

You should search their Yahoo group about the fixes for the pivot point leaks they had. I think they finally got that solved. One member used an old milk jug and fashioned it so he could dump it out when it got full. Seems to work fine enough.
