What I want is photos of wooden peirs.And maybe some basic descriptions of what Im seeing. Im going ot build one this spring in the back yard for a 120mm refractor. Any advice ,photos, descriptions would be appreciated. Into this I inserted a pressure treated four by four. No concrete.I have heavy clay about a foot down , so I rolled the grass sections in first , and then pounded them flat with a sledge hammer and short sections of 4 x 4. I then back filled stopping about every 7 or 8 inches hammer that as hard as possible, checking constantly to make sure it was straight up and down with a level. On top of this a pipe mount will set ,Ill leave the gound a few days to settle. Will it be good enough fior photography...probably not but for viaul use Im betting it will suffice. I now need a long focus 80 or 90mm scope to ride on it. So far the wooden peir (simple 4x4) has done fairly well ,a little to tall, but nice not to crawl when objects are high in the sky, does it vibrate, yes, about as much as average tripod ,vibrations are gone in 4 to 5 seconds. Ill keep yall "posted" ...pun intended.
