Telescope Reviews: New Orion Atlas Counterweight Shaft Modification

This modification from www.astro-rubylith.com includes a 1 inch x 18 inch solid stainless steel counterweight shaft that fits a modified DEC nut on your Orion Atlas EQ-G/Synta EQ-6 or the Sirius HE-Q5. A big improvement over the stock counterweight shaft.

You to send us your DEC nut to be tapped to the right threading (very simple to remove). Then we'll send the new counterweight shaft and your DEC nut back.

Weights bought from Wal-Mart or other stores could be used (weights with a 1" bore -- much cheaper than the $29.95 extra 11lbs counterweights from Orion). Includes is a new toe saver and an aluminum cover for storage.
