Well I need advice on a new mount.I am replacing my trusty old GPD2 in my observatory.I am down to the Em2OO CGE SXD G11.I need a mount to carry my TSA 102MM and a guide scope. My biggest scope will be a 5in APO.So what mount is guide friendly. The CGE can be had for a great price now'but I am scared of the reliability and celestron service.Any help much appreciated.

Bob,
of those choices, I'd say EM200, but I'm somewhat biased

Since you say it has to be guide friendly, I assume it's for imaging. In that case, I'd say EM200, though you might also want to take a look at the Mach1GTO.

Then that would solidify the EM200 votes.

Sounds like good advice to me. I hear though that the Mach1 is crazy hard to get. Translation - go with the Tak.

I have owned an EM200 and G11 Gemini. I like having a hand paddle... and the Gemini is pretty easy to learn.
Both my G11 and EM200 tracked well and that is the most important thing to imaging. I am comfortable in endorsing the G11. Losmandy has steadily made improvements in the worm gears and has a really fine mount for imaging.
Also, in an observatory, when you shut down the EM200, you must do another aligment when you turn it back on. With the Gemini you can simply start it up and it remembers the alignments... faster start up. Hard to beat the G11.

Thanks Joe.I have seen many G11'and they are a great mount.I know the Tak mounts are buildt the best'but their electronics are so outdated,Hell the new CGEM has far superior brain than any Tak mount.I wonder what the wait time is on a G11.BOB
