Just got a (used) Cube!
      #3014962 - 03/30/09 09:58 PM

Hi Folks,

Just tested out a used Cube that I got here on Swap and Shop. It didn't have the tripod but I made an adapter and mounted it on my Stellarvue Grab n Go mount.

It works very well. In less than three minutes I slapped my SV70ED on it, pointed it up to the Zenith, put the back of the mount to the south, leveled the tripod and turned it on. Two stars later it's aligned and tracking the Moon and Saturn very well. Went into the house, made my self some hot chocolate, drank it, came back out and there was Saturn still in the field at 125X looking pretty as a picture!

I have to laugh about one thing. I went through the list of DSOs to find the Orion Nebula. It wasn't there. Then I went to the Messier list for M42. It wasn't there either (neither was M43). I have the 8402 controller. Do I need to reflash it? Anyone have any wisdom on why it's not there?

(I also have the original controller but have not yet used it)

Still, it's a great little tracker and I'll use it for a while to see if I want to get the Cube pro.

I figured it out myself.

When I was going into the Messier list, I would hit the arrow up and arrow down keys on the controller. I did this thinking it would scroll through all the messiers that were currently available in the sky.

That is not the case. The curser is flashing in the far left space of three spaces at the top of the screen. You must move the cursor to the far right space and then you can use the arrow up and down keys to scan for currently available Messiers.

Hope this helps someone!

Great little mount Preston. Good luck with it.
