Final run before a cloud bank came over...
I made a barlow from the optics from a Zeiss 2x Mutar from my 'ol parts bin. This is used as a "doubler" for a 10-100mm Zeiss Vario Sonnar motion picture lens. The original housing was trashed but the optics were perfect so...
I turned up a tube for it and had great success with Saturn.
So this last run I added another 2" extension and went for it...
This was very rough focus due to a very dim image and time was running out due to approaching clouds. I managed 975 frames before the image drifted too close to the edge of the ccd. Every setting had to be set to max to even see the image.
Captured in WXastrocapture on my Asus eepc straight to USB 8 gig memory stick.
Processed with Registax 5.
Meade DS102MAK (tweaked) Bresser mini GEM (heavily tweaked) Cheap 'n nasty RA drive (waiting to be tweaked) Phillips 840k with 900 firmware in optimised color mode.
WOW! Next time I'm going to take time to bracket focus.
Not bad for a cheap 4" Mak...

Good shot Andy, great result. With the equipment you used and made yourself this is a really good result already! Just a tip, try the bahtinov mask for focussing, but don't forget to take it off after focus has been reached, like I did in an imaging trial before

Hmmm.. Kinda embarassing but I posted the wrong pic.
That one was +25% rescaled for processing...
This one is 1:1... still good I think.
As for the mask - I can get one laser cut, just a matter of finding time to generate one for my scope.

Why don't you print it out on a laser printer and glue it onto some plastic folder. Then with a sharp cutter, cut it out and done, that will work for sure!
