Extra Flexible Control Cable for Voyager?
      #3020790 - 04/02/09 08:43 PM

Anyone figured out how to make (or acquire) an extra slow motion control cable for a Voyager? What I need is one that is truly flexible so that it doesn't hit the OTA when used on the azimuth knob. From what I can see, none of ones out there fit the Voyager. I like the mount but this is preventing me from truly enjoying the mount to the fullest in the field.

Right on - the short, stiff cable on the azimuth contact the tube of my 100ED - kind of a nuisance.

We need a longer, more flexible one.

I tried the cables from the AZ3, but the connector is too large.

Hi Manny - only ones that I've found have been on Astronomics (these are also sold on other sites). I emailed scopestuff as well and haven't heard back yet but I don't think theirs will fit either.

I just wonder if there is enough metal on the cable to be drilled out to fit the Voyager.

that's an interesting idea - just need another 1.5mm I believe. Now that I've got one of your bent bars on the way, even the regular AT Voyager cable would do (if they were available).

Tim,
I bought a pair of the cables you linked to and will perform surgery on them when I get 'em to see if they can be drilled out.
I have some that look pretty close to the same as the Antares and there seems to be enough metal to drill 1.5MM away so they just might work.

The surgery was successful!
I managed to summon the strength and energy after work today to perform the out patient op.

Dave,

So does this mean that "cool I was able to make one of these flexible cables work on a Voyager" or "this wasn't a big deal and I should be able to offer these flexible cables for the Voyager at a good price"?
