Lunar Peninsula

My wife and I decided to grab this area a few nights ago. Using the astro video on a C8 at about 254X on an average night in terms of sky conditions, I wanted the area between the "point" and Plato; Linda opted to sketch out the wider area.

Linda used pastels on a toned Artagain paper; I used pencils on a real rough sketch paper.

The magnificence of lunar terrain was something the prophets could not see since telescope optics had not been invented, so their terms in exalting the Creator were in starry terms under black nights that most of us do not have. But I echo their sentiments: "Lift your eyes and look the the heavens: Who created all of these? He brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name." (Isaiah 40:26)

Linda's sketch:

Linda and Roland, I see two beautiful moonscapes framed in spring yellow. A nice comparison and study of different sketching media as well. Beautiful.

Frank

Roland & Linda,

Look at these beautiful sketches and agree with me that both of you have made a substantial evolution in your sketching style.

Wonderful work!

Roland and Linda, these are great sketches of a really interesting area on the northern shores of Imbrium. The differentiation of the mare lavas against the "peninsula" is beautifully rendered in both of your drawings. Well done!

Roland and Linda,

A beautiful and accurate observations (sketches) of the region between Promontorium Laplace and Plato. You have both captured the complex terrain very nicely. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Thanks very much for the added comments, Rich, Carlos, Tommy5, and RobertED.

Rich....good to hear from you. I thought about you the other night as we were drying to sketch some high ground (like mounds) and remembered you were working on techniques with them. We have not mastered them yet.
