      #3041223 - 04/13/09 10:19 AM

hi everyone,
these days i have a problem with my mount in DEC motor.
when i set its speed to guide mode then press up key it works correctly in regular guide speed, but when i press down key , motor starts working with a average speed for 1 or 2 seconds and then it works correctly with guide speed and this problem happens again and again when i use down key after up key . i've restarted the mount but it didnt help.
by the way , its sound has changed , but its not very unregular.
please help me why i faced this problem and how can i fix it.

Sound changes are usually not good. Does it sound like it's binding? There are three screws on the worm gear housing to adjust the worm gear engagement.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I understand you exactly.

My best guess is that your backlash has deteriorated over time and needs to be re-tightened.

When you change directions the motors move quickly for a bit, then slow to the slew setting. This action is designed to take up the slack in the gear train. The length of time the motor moves qickly is set by the Dec/Alt Percent and RA/Az Percent. They can be found in Setup > Telescope > Dec/Alt Percent (or RA/Az Percent). I believe the default value is 50% for both axis.
