Saturn /Neximage new
      #3046916 - 04/16/09 11:04 AM Attachment (63 downloads)

Hi this is my first Saturn with my new Neximage. It is promising but I would like to get more detail. Any help with settings would be great. It was taken with an Orion Sirius 8 and a 3X barlow.

Could you give some additional details around how many frames were used, how it was processed, software used, etc? To be honest, that's a pretty good first Saturn.

Thank you. Its bout 200 frames in registax. I used amcap to capture it. Its not my first pic ever. And its better than the last with a quickcam pro3000 and a 5 inch reflector. I guess i just expected too much. My other pics are on www.webcamastrophotography.blogspot.com

Thats a pretty good Saturn. You can brighten it up a little to help highlight it more. Did you do any wavelet adjustments in registax?

I also think it a pretty good image of Saturn and the color is nice. I like it better than some images that are over processed. A little brightening would help its appearance.

Try looking for nights with better than average to excellent 'seeing'. It is very likely that image's details are 'seeing' limited. More frames may help and do go through each frame and discard any that are poor then stack only the best frames. Registax can evaluate the frame quality and discard poor frames.

What is you exposure time and frame rate?

If you can, go for something like 800-1000 frames on Saturn and then just stack the very best of them, maybe top 10% or so. And like Walt suggested, pick it out on the best of nights where seeing is excellent and the air is nice and stable. I've noticed with any of my feeble planetary/lunar attempts that the sharpness in detail is greatly increased the more calm the atmosphere is.
