What legs for Bogen Manfrotto 410?
      #3052918 - 04/19/09 04:01 PM

I'm picking up a Bogen Manfrotto 410 geared head and I am interested to get some suggestions for what would be a good set of tripod legs to pair up with this. I will be using this head with large binos and small scopes - loads up to 10 lbs so it needs to be rather sturdy.

TIA for your help!

I have two Manfrotto 028's ,excellent tripod with a crank for the centre column.

I have one with a 503 HDV for my big binoculars and the other with a AYO alt/az mount for my Equinox 120.

Thanks Glen! Those look like a stout platform - easliy within the capacity of the loads I'd be looking to mount.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't know if they still sell it but I use the bogen 3036 for my 410 with my Pronto on top and that works very well.

I use a Velbon 640A carbon fiber tripod with my Manfrotto 410 gear head for my small OTAs such as the WO Megrez 80FD and Celestron C5 as a grab and go set up and it works very well.
The Velbon 640A weighs 3.2 lb, can support 13.2 lb and the length is only 17.7 inch closed.
