The "space music" albums that get played the most by me while observing in no particular order of preference:
1. Hawkwind: _The Space Ritual_
2. Tammy Wynette: _Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad_
3. Enya: _Shepherd Moons_
4. The Allman Brothers: _The Allman Brothers Band Live at the Fillmore East_

Main theme from the Carl Sagan series...'Cosmos'. This is a piece by Vangelis entitled "Heaven & Hell"!!! A lot of Vangelis' work is similar...remember the theme from "Chariots of Fire"??? Holst's "The Planets" is my favorite album to observe by!!...and believe it or not, I enjoy some of the more "mellow" stuff by The Moody Blues!!! That and a pot of hot coffee......PRICELESS!!!

"Cygnus x-1 Book 1" off of Rush's album A Farewell to Kings
There's a "Cygnus x-1 Book 2" on the next album Hemispheres that transitions from space and a blackhole to a sort of celestial Greek mythology.
Black Sabbath- "Into the Void" and "Planet Caravan"

I can't believe I forgot my fave band Pink Floyd. "Astronomy Domine" and "Interstellar Overdrive"
I know I'm forgetting other bands and songs, but it's time for bed.

I remembered the old Star Trek theme, But back in the late 60's It was the Oliver version of Hair's "Good Morning Starshine" that was on the pop stations back then. I had a 3" Newtonian from Monkey Wards and was listening to my 5-tube clock radio I had out in the late summer mornings, splitting the trapezium before school started for the season. IT FIT! BTW it was old KIMN radio, Denver. Joe.

"Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" by KLAATU has always been one of my favorites. KLAATU - "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft"
The Carpenters covered this song somewhat later. This is an interesting version of it...The Carpenters - "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft"
