Any interest in a 6" or 10" imagining Newt?

The 8" was quite the hit at the show, we had been thinking of a 6" f/6 or 10" f/5. I think the 10 might be little much and quite heavy, but the 6" might be interesting. I am just not sure what you all would like.

I didn't see the 8" version at NEAF mike. Any specs on it? Cost? A 10" scope is in my future.

I'm all about bigger right now so I'll say 10"! My EM400 is dying for something big!
Feathertouch for focuser and curved spider? Push-pull collimation screws?
pick me to beta test it!!
EDIT: Oh wow, I just saw the price on the 8" imaging newtonian! That's fantastic! I need to resist!!

Mike ,
Is there any chance that the Voyager Pro mount can be equipped with provision to install encoders (built-in as opposed to after market i.e. JMI) for push to
capability with a Astro Master type computer? I currently use a Vixen porta mount for my Brandon 94 APO and would consider upgrading to the Voyager in the near future (once I return to work)

I would certainly be interested in a 6" imaging newt that would work well with DSLRs.

I'd buy a 10 incher, but it would have to be F4.
Just ordered the 8" f4...

I like the idea of the 6" for my smaller mount (and the 10" for the big one!).
A 6" F6 w/ CF tube and all the trimmings that the 8" F4 had at NEAF sounds very interesting.
How much does the CF cost extra BTW? The only reason I ask is that 1, it looks good and 2, her in MI, we can have some pretty severe temp swings, especially in fall and spring.

We are looking at a new head design that would have built in encoders. We are trying to keep it light, but it may be impossible.

I would guess it would come in at 28 pounds or so. I would also guess it would be about 58-60 inches long. We want to extend the "dew sheild" out past the focuser. These are all guesses. We will get a prototype 6 and 10" and see what they actually spec out.

We looked at CF for the tube, but didn't have time to make it in time. We might be able to push the 6" with a CF tube to help keep the weight very low. I will see what sort of cost there is. I think the 10" would be nice, but that might not happen. That and I don't know if f/5 in the 10" is going to be worth it to some people.

Mike...
I would use the 10" scope for visual use only. Would f4 be too fast and would f5 be better for this? I see that owners of your 8" f4 refractor need extensions to use it for visual use. I also see that there are some 10" Dobs on the market that are closer to f5, but don't have all the options you show, like a duel speed crayford focuser.

Orion's 6" imaging Newt is f/5. I think I'd probably want f/5 or faster.

10" f/4 Carbon tube or Aluminum tube depending on buyers choice. GSO or 2.7" AT focuser buyers choice. Stock rings OR a "REAL" set of rings like the ones for the AT and TMB scopes only upsized and buyers choice.
Make it sort of "Pick your options" type of deal and I think you'll find them flying out the door.
As far as the "Extended" front goes, it does add a lot more weight than a plastic dewshield does which is something to consider with the 10. It's a very rare occassion when my secondaries have dewed in my reflectors. I'd rather save weight and cost and pick up a flexible shield for that rare night when I may need it.
Just some ramblings

I would like this even better, though the F6 has me intrigued. I would think for it to be successful though, it would have to offer some advantages over the Orion Imaging OTA. I'll keep my eye out for details when you get the costs, etc all figured out....

Synta already has a 10" f/4.7, and, of course, there is the Meade SN10 f/4 beast.
The market could use a decent, lighter 10" f/4 (in fact, someone is inquiring about that on the Reflector forum right now).
But, a decent 10" f/4 mirror must be expensive, no? And the likely customers are cheapskates, err, value-minded, no? Many would dream, but how many would lay out the cash?
The 8" f/4 is probably the sweet spot. A 6" would also be nice, but again, an f/4 would be more attractive to the photo crowd, and darn cute, too. Probably look good on a Voyager.

Mike, A 10 inch F/4 would be awesome. Make it in CF as noted and all the other add ons already noted and I would step into that scope quickly. The key is the weight. The CF would knock that down, and drop that extension beyond the focuser for dew reasons. I mount everything in an observatory and in over two years I have had no dew issues. Baffle that joker and start cranking them out. But get the Coma Corrector out first. The 8 F/4 is working out great BTW.
Oh yeah, decals, you know what I mean?
