I was able to view the conjunction of the Waning Crescent Moon, Venus and Jupiter on April 22, 2009 (09:30 U.T.). The view was spectacular as the Moon and Venus (-3.88m) both exhibited a pastel yellow color (elevation ~6 degrees and ~5 degrees, respectively, above the eastern horizon in Pisces. Jupiter was approximately 35 degrees southeast of the Moon in Capricornus. Mars was not visible at this time.

You have captured a beautiful rendering of this pair!
I am just leaving the house now at 3:45 AM PDT to get to the predetermined hilltop above Portland to observe the lunar occultation of Venus at 5 AM.

I watched the group rise higher in the eastern morning sky and at 06:30 AM (EST, 10:30 U.T.). I also noted Mars below the Moon and Venus. It was a spectacular sight to see this grouping of the Moon and three planets.

Beautiful images as always Carlos. It looks like I am viewing the sky through my window. Very three dimensional.

Carlos,
These sketches are most beautiful. Your capture of the moon and both planets at different times are both stunning.

Thank you all for the kind compliments on my Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus conjunction observations. It was one of the most impressive sights that I have observed in some time. I hope that you all were able to view the event as well.

As the Moon and Venus were rising over the eastern horizon the Moon appeared magnified. It was spectacular viewing this between a row of trees and palms. The Moon appeared as huge golden orb floating in the sky. This observation was made at 5:45 AM (EST, 08:45 U.T.).

All of your lunar planetary renderings are beautiful. I especially like the way you add the foreground as you have reminded me again to include the foreground in my own work. Sorry I have been scattered in the past days and not getting back to see everyones posts; I missed your updates of the images here until now. Thanks for posting and sharing these images,
Mark
