Excellent work. Looks very similar to the 6" reflector described in Allyn J. Thompson's "Making Your Own Telescope".
Did you base the design on his book?

Sadley I can't take credit for the beauty, the mount was one a freind in the local club had and was going to throw away,He built it back in the 50's and it was sitting unused sence the 90's. I built the OTA, spider, the primary cell, the finder and the RotateingTube/mounting saddle setup. I just restored the Eq mount and peir, the Dec axis was rusted solid and the wood was water damaged from years of dew.

Nice and clean pipe mount there!
My first scope had one near like that, except for the wood.
Here's one of my mounts.

Next...
a closer shot of the counter weights.
Really rough looking so, had them turned
down to make nice. Just a very small bit
of material had to be removed.

Another mount, just took this shot a few minutes ago.
Nice sunny day here.
Edit: tried to remove some color but, all this
chrome messes with my old camera....couldn't do it.
edit: going to turn down these counterweights too and, am now making new s/s shafts for this mount as well...

Beautiful restorations there, Michael. And nice touch on those counter weights! If carbon steel, I assume you keep them lightly oiled?

Thank You Bob for the comment,
Never have oiled them...yes, even here in muggy STL!
Did this about eight years ago and they still look the same with no tarnishing.
I thought it was supposed to rain this weekend, I was out last night with the ten inch and Saturn in the eyepiece
putting crazy power on it, and was going past midnight with no rain and fairly steady skies.
Worried that the weathermen elite here got it right, i packed up....could have stayed out a couple more hours.

Most recent pic of my homemade 4" shaft GEM with 12" drive gears....and setting circles. Just the right size for the 12" tubed 10"f/15 on top.

Thanks Paul. Actually I never had the Lick refractor on my mind when I built it...I was thinking more of a *Buck Rogers* theme.....Star Trekin across the Universe......

Just wanted to say "Thank you" to ADM for producing well designed, machined, and finished products. The products provide robust mounting options which are easy to adjust for balance. Here is my SBS setup on an AP900GTO.

Rob, Still looking good. Looks like your keeping the 10" going!
Michael, love those Cave mounts! Classic and all heck!!
Well the Series II on the new portable pier is ready for the Classic Star party At Mnt Pinos, July 29 - 31. I have had this mount under the 9" F10 Astro Phyisics refractor and it is a joy to operate. Stable as all get out and just plain fun to use. The scope will be at 8500 feet once again on July 29th CSPAMP 2011 is free and the perfect weekend star party for this economy!!
