The science professor who gave me mine kept the 16" scope and converted it into a Dob. I'd shure love to get a hold of a 3.5" thick 16" mirror for my new project...weight isn't an issue.
I'm using my heavely modified Cave OB series GEM for my homemade 10"f/15 refractor....

Hello Chuck, That's the Parallax Instruments 150 you were refitting with Gemini, is it not?
Looks great.
How successful was the Gemini refit?

Yes, thanks! My Mewlon 250 is going to be too small lol need a bigger scope! That tiny thing bolted to the top of the saddle plate is a 12" Robin Casady dovetail saddle. The Gemini with Maxon motor retrofit is back ordered. I ordered it about a month ago, it's still 3 months out.
Two more pictures with my Mewlon 250 on it. Either the pier's too high or I definitely need a bigger scope!
Chuck

John, Do you cary the gm-8 out for each observing session, or just cover it over during non-use?

hi, i have rollaway shed and pier. its a tiny one, 36x32 base. it all 2x4 construction/insulated with pink styro. i built it for my cg5 and scope, and now with the gm-8 the scope wont fit. im hoping when i get the g-11 it will clear the roof or i will have to buy taller wheels! i only carry in the scope and ep/cam box . john

John,
Thanks, it was not clear from your pictures that you have an enclosure for the pier...great sky shots though!!
Did your G-11 show up yet? I bet that will keep you busy for a while!

yes! it came today im all tingling with excitement, got it on the pier, but also waiting for the clouds to show up. i bought the stock g-11, once im sure everything works i will transfer the gemini from the gm8 to the 11. anyone need a g11 tripod? it would be nice to sell to to a local astronomer cheap instead of ebay. here is a pic of them side by side. john

John, Nice picture...the G11 is just a bit beefier! I am not sure my CGEM would fit on a Losmandy tripod, but I agree it would be better to do a local deal and skip the shipping and eBay experience. Lots of clouds here tonite...they chased me in last night after a decent first light on my new refractor..it would be a nice finder for your TEC 140!!
