I have spent the last couple of weeks rebuilding my mount, addressing some issues and adding geared assemblies for both axis.

I couldn't help but post my TV-85 on my DiscMount-4 with Sky Commander. A plug for the great self-crafted mounts of Tom Peters is worth getting out. It's on a Manfrotto/ Gitzo G-415 tripod for a quick "Grab & Go". I also have the Tom Peters beautiful wood tripod for steadier work. BTW, I have no affliation with DiscMounts, but they're the best Alt-Azimuth mounts out there, IMHO.

How does the DiscMount move? Are there slow motion controls, or built in motors? Or do you have to push on the ota?

Its a manual Alt-Az mount - so you push the scope, or use the optional handle

Another plug for the DM4...just a superb alt-az mount. DM4 on a modified Stellarvue Stablelock tripod with my M6511.

Here's mine. Yes that is 47 lbs. of counterweights on the Atlas. 'Course I had to modify things a bit to get away with this. I have yet to discard a single 5 minute sub due to tracking problems! Carl

Hey Gene...could you give a brief description of the mount's inner workings and the scope that will grace it? Thanks!

Here is a picture of part of our mount system for a Questar 7, which will be arriving in due course.
P.W.T. made the tristand and a custom wedge for us.
This is our 10" X 32" Monolith, portable pier with full index / universal adapter.

Bob, as an amateur machinist myself, I couldn't imagine a better tripod. The legs are machined from aluminium billits, strong enough for King Kong to climb down.
